Bradley Wiggins’ son Ben signs first pro contract

Ben Wiggins, the 21‑year‑old son of five‑time Olympic champion Sir Bradley Wiggins, has inked his first professional deal with Australian WorldTour outfit Jayco‑Alula. The young rider, who claimed silver in the junior individual time trial at the 2023 World Championships, posted a top‑ten overall placing in the men’s race at the September Tour of Britain, where he also earned the Combativity Award on the fifth stage.

Speaking about the move, Ben said, “It’s a really special feeling to be joining the World Tour next year and to be racing for Team Jayco Alula is a dream come true. I remember being at the Tour de France in 2019 and being invited onto the team bus the morning Matteo Trentin won the stage into Gap. Ever since that day I have wanted to ride for the team. I can’t wait to be part of the races I’ve watched since I was a kid.”

Ben began his cycling journey in 2022, signing as a junior with the Fensham Howes‑MAS Design squad. He stepped up to the United States‑based Hagens Berman‑Jayco team in 2024, a squad overseen by Axel Merckx, son of legendary five‑time Tour de France winner Eddy Merckx. In 2026 he added the Under‑23 national time trial championship to his list of achievements. His father, Bradley, retired a decade ago after becoming Great Britain’s first Tour de France victor in 2012.
