Two police officers killed in terrorist attack on patrol team in Naseerabad

NASEERABAD – Unidentified gunmen opened fire on a police patrol near the Bedar Bridge, killing Head Constable Ahmed Khan and Constable Abdul Malik on the spot, ARY News reported. The local deputy superintendent of police said the two officers were on duty when they were ambushed inside the jurisdiction of the Sadar police station. The attackers fled the scene and police have sealed off the area while searching for the suspects. A First Information Report has been filed against the unknown assailants.

In May, a separate terrorist strike in the Mangi Phase III area of Quetta claimed the lives of at least nine police personnel. The deputy commissioner said fighting between security forces and the militants continued throughout the night, with officers holding their ground for several hours before the clash ended. The deputy commissioner of Ziarat added that police showed strong resistance and that a hunt for five missing officers was still under way.

Earlier that same month, a powerful explosion in Sarai Naurang tehsil of Lakki Marwat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, killed nine people, including two traffic police officials, and injured 23 others. Police said a loader rickshaw packed with explosives detonated in a crowded market during rush hour. Rescue 1122 teams rushed to the site, transporting the dead and injured to Naurang Hospital. Police and bomb‑disposal squads arrived shortly after, cordoned off the area and began gathering evidence. Local residents gathered at the hospital to help with rescue efforts and to donate blood for the wounded.
