Murder in Malaysia: Justice for Altantuya Shaariibuu
Two Malaysian special‑forces police officers are accused of killing Mongolian national Altantuya Shaariibuu in 2006, using C4 explosives to destroy her body. The motive for the murder remains unclear, fueling speculation that a political plot may have been intended to silence her.
The investigative series “101 East” follows the case across Mongolia, Malaysia, France and Australia, examining claims that the trial has been tampered with, that Altantuya was linked to a controversial submarine contract, and that the officers acted on orders from former prime minister Najib Razak, who has been convicted on other charges but denies any role in the killing.
A 48‑minute documentary on the investigation was released on 17 October 2026.
