Leicester City set to face Oxford City in FA Cup first round
Leicester City will travel to Oxford City in the 2026-27 FA Cup first round. It is the first time the Foxes have been at this stage since 2008, and they will meet a National League North side from the sixth tier for a place in the second round. Leicester, winners of the 2021 competition, were relegated to League One for the current season and sit 14th under manager Russell Martin after an uneven start.
A family storyline adds interest, as Peterborough United are drawn against Reading. Peterborough boss Robbie Savage will line up his side against a team managed by his son Charlie when the first‑round matches begin around Saturday 7 November.
The draw produced 91 clubs, with four clubs reaching the first round proper for the first time. Ninth‑tier Tadley Calleva came from behind twice to force a replay with Aldershot but then lost 2‑0 to the National League side, ending their hopes of a tie with League One Barnsley. Eighth‑tier Stafford Rangers beat Gateshead 5‑0 in a replay to earn a home tie against Grimsby Town. AFC Rushden & Diamonds, also from the eighth tier, recorded five victories in the competition to earn a match against League One Burton Albion. Bradford City will host National League North Marine in one of the notable league‑vs‑non‑league fixtures. Two seventh‑tier clubs have attractive draws against League One teams – Alvechurch travel to Tom Cleverley’s Plymouth Argyle and Cray Wanderers host newly crowned third‑tier leaders Stockport County.
