Iranian State TV Broadcasts Video Allegedly Showing Tanker Blast in Hormuz

Iran’s state-run television network aired a clip that it says captures an oil tanker detonating after hitting a naval mine in the Strait of Hormuz. The video appeared while the United States was directing merchant vessels along a corridor close to Oman’s shoreline, a move Tehran has repeatedly warned against for ships that do not have permission to pass. The broadcast was posted on 17 October 2026.
