Ukrainian forces conduct first drone rescue of wounded soldier

The Ukrainian military said it has carried out the world’s first evacuation of a wounded soldier using a drone. A heavy‑lift hexacopter lifted the injured serviceman from the front line and delivered him to safety, demonstrating new battlefield tactics as Ukraine contends with shrinking troop numbers and an escalating Russian drone threat. The operation was reported on 19 October 2026.
