Three killed, five injured after van strikes stationary trailer on M‑5 motorway

A passenger van collided with a parked trailer on the M‑5 motorway, resulting in three fatalities, including a woman, and five injuries, according to police reports cited by ARY News. All of the victims were taken to Taluka Hospital for treatment. The deceased and the injured are reported to be members of a family from Khan Bela and Rahim Yar Khan who were travelling from Karachi to Rahim Yar Khan while transporting a dead body. Police said the van driver had fallen asleep at the wheel, leading to the crash.

The incident comes amid a series of recent accidents in Karachi despite the installation of traffic cameras on many city roads. Earlier in the week, two young motorcyclists lost their lives in separate collisions. An unidentified vehicle struck a motorcycle near KDA Flats in Surjani Town, killing 28‑year‑old Jerry on the spot; his body was transferred to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and the car driver fled the scene. In a second case, a speeding car hit a motorcycle on the Gul Bai Bridge, killing 22‑year‑old Shafiullah; his remains were taken to Civil Hospital Karachi and the driver also escaped without stopping.
