Suspect admits to killing Zain Ul Abideen over alleged inappropriate video

Karachi: The main suspect in the killing of Zain Ul Abideen told police that he murdered the youth because the victim had an inappropriate video of a girl on his mobile phone. According to ARY News, the suspect made this statement during police interrogation and said that a dispute arose between him and the deceased over the video. He claimed that he, together with a friend, planned the killing to take revenge.

The suspect had previously confessed to the crime during questioning. Earlier, police said the body of Zainul Abideen, a young man who had been abducted after returning from Saudi Arabia to see his parents, was found in Steel Town. Officers reported that the victim’s cousin Faisal and his friend were involved in the murder. Both men have been arrested, and the body was recovered after they identified the location. Police added that Faisal confessed to killing Zainul Abideen during interrogation.

According to investigators, the perpetrators placed the body in a sack, dumped it at a deserted spot and tied a piece of yellow cloth around the sack.

Zainul Abideen’s father said his son left home on a motorcycle on October 14 but did not return. After an unsuccessful search, the father filed a kidnapping report at the Steel Town police station. He explained that Zainul Abideen worked as a tailor in Saudi Arabia and had come back to Pakistan to visit his family. Following the abduction, the family received a call from the kidnappers demanding a ransom of Rs700,000. The father said they delivered the money to the place specified by the kidnappers, but nobody appeared. He also said the suspects left his son’s slippers and mobile phone outside the house and threatened to kill him.

Police said that during the initial investigation they went to the location indicated by the kidnappers and recovered a severed hand. The hand was sent for DNA testing, and investigators also examined the case on technical grounds. After the arrest of the two suspects, the victim’s body was recovered. The investigation is ongoing.
