Rain halts final T20, leaving India and West Indies level at 2‑2
India and the West Indies were forced to accept a 2‑2 draw in their five‑match Twenty20 International series after the decisive game in Bengaluru was abandoned after just 48 minutes. The match at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium started nearly two hours behind schedule and had already been trimmed to nine overs per side when India reached 118‑5 in 7.4 overs. A fresh downpour prompted the umpires to call off play, eliminating even the possibility of a five‑over shootout.
The stadium was hosting its first international fixture since the October 2024 Test between India and New Zealand, and more than 20,000 fans braved the weather to watch. Their patience was rewarded when India’s batsmen, spurred on by West Indies captain Shai Hope’s decision to bowl, launched an aggressive assault. Ishan Kishan, Sanju Samson and the young Naman Dhir, who scored an unbeaten 24 off six balls, led the charge. India struck eight fours and seven sixes in the short spell, with Kishan hitting the series’ 100th six by lofting Romario Shepherd over long leg and out of the ground.
Just as the momentum built, the skies opened again, washing away any chance of a decisive result.
