Part-time Whitley Bay secures three straight FA Vase wins at Wembley

Whitley Bay, a club that competes in the ninth‑tier Northern Football League, became the first side to win three consecutive FA Vase finals at the rebuilt Wembley Stadium, triumphing in 2009, 2010 and 2011. The FA Vase, a national knockout for amateur teams, was launched in 1974 and over more than half a century only Whitley Bay – known as the Seahorses – have lifted the trophy four times, including that hat‑trick run.
