Pakistan Railways Police Charged with Kidnapping and Torturing KMC City Warden

Karachi – Shahrah‑e‑Faisal Police have lodged a formal case against officials of the Pakistan Railways Police, accusing them of abducting and torturing a Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) City Warden. The complaint was filed by City Wardens Director Saim Imran, who says the railway police assaulted him and transported him to an unknown location during a dispute over road construction and traffic control in the city.

According to the FIR, road repair work has been ongoing for four months on the stretch from Natha Khan Bridge to Pehlwan Goth near the Chakor Nullah in Gulistan‑e‑Jauhar. Imran says he was carrying out traffic‑management duties at the site on the day of the incident when Railway Police Station House Officer Ahsan Rashid arrived with a team of officers. He alleges that he was beaten, forced into a police vehicle, and taken to an undisclosed site where he was bound and subjected to severe abuse.

The report claims the officers demanded that Imran hold their feet and lick their shoes. When he refused, they allegedly beat him so violently that he lost consciousness. He later regained awareness at Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.

Sources indicate that railway police were instructed not to proceed with any further action without clearance from senior officials. Karachi Mayor Barrister Murtaza Wahab condemned the alleged misconduct, calling it a grave injustice against a KMC employee and confirming that legal steps are being pursued. “We face difficulties when we work, but we will not allow anyone to mistreat this city,” Wahab said, pledging support for KMC staff.

In a reciprocal move, the railways police have also filed a case against KMC officials, including City Wardens Director Saim Imran. The FIR lists serious charges such as attempted murder, terrorism, interference with official duties, encroachment on railway land and issuing death threats.
