NADRA explains B‑form process for children lacking mother’s CNIC

ISLAMABAD – The National Database and Registration Authority has detailed how parents can obtain a child’s B‑Form, also called the Child Registration Certificate, when the mother’s Computerised National Identity Card is not available. In a podcast released by NADRA, Public Information Officer Syed Shabahat Ali said the steps differ depending on whether the mother already has a CNIC that is simply missing, or has never been issued one.

If the mother’s CNIC has been issued but she does not have the physical card at the time of visiting a NADRA centre, the situation is not a major obstacle. Her identity can be confirmed using the CNIC number or through biometric verification such as fingerprints.

When the mother has never received a CNIC, the process becomes more complicated. In such cases the family’s records must be complete before a B‑Form can be issued. NADRA officials noted that the parents’ marriage may not be recorded in the official system and a family number may not exist, creating gaps that hinder the child’s registration. Families in this position are advised to regularise any missing identity or family‑registration documents before applying for the B‑Form.

For parents who have lost a child’s B‑Form, NADRA has also outlined a replacement procedure. Applications can be made at the nearest NADRA Registration Centre or online through the Pak ID mobile app. The fee for a replacement is Rs 50 for the normal category and Rs 500 for the executive category.

The B‑Form, formally known as the Child Registration Certificate, remains a crucial document for entering children into Pakistan’s national database.
