Mahmood Achakzai asks about location of KP chief minister and eight missing MNAs

Opposition leader Mahmood Khan Achakzai raised concerns in the National Assembly about the disappearance of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister and eight members of the National Assembly, while urging the government to guarantee free and fair elections and protect legislators’ right to speak, RY News reported.

Speaking in parliament, Achakzai accused the authorities of ending the term of an elected provincial government and questioned the current political climate in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. “Eight MNAs are missing. Tell us where the chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is,” he said.

He added that the opposition does not seek to cause trouble, but simply wants the government to ensure transparent elections. “We don’t want anything from you. Just hold free and fair elections,” he declared.

Achakzai also emphasized that the speaker is responsible for issuing production orders for lawmakers, even if a member faces serious criminal allegations. “Even if your member commits the worst crime, issuing their production orders is your duty,” he asserted.

He warned that no parliamentarian should be arrested or penalized for statements made during assembly proceedings. “You don’t even let us speak here. Make whatever laws you want, but you will have to face the consequences,” he remarked, criticizing restrictions on lawmakers’ participation.

Referencing Sanaullah Mastikhel and Kundi, who were present in the chamber, Achakzai called on authorities to allow all elected representatives the opportunity to speak. His comments highlighted the issue of missing lawmakers, the situation in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, parliamentary freedoms, and the demand for credible elections.
