Lahore High Court directs posting of MDCAT papers and codes online

The Lahore High Court ordered on Saturday that the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT) question papers and their corresponding codes be uploaded to the official website and remain accessible until the admission process is finished. Justice Ahsan Raza Kazmi delivered the verdict while hearing petitions filed by Noshaab A Khan and several others concerning the examination.

The court noted that removing the papers from the site would hinder students who wish to raise objections, and that such removal would run counter to the principles of transparency. Accordingly, the papers and codes must stay online for the duration of the admission cycle.

The decision arrives amid growing doubts about the credibility and openness of the MDCAT in Sindh, a crucial entrance exam for candidates seeking places in medical and dental colleges across Pakistan. Earlier, the federal government had contacted the Sindh administration about complaints related to the test and called for an independent, transparent inquiry. The Pakistan Medical and Dental Council also wrote to Sindh’s health minister, urging a probe into allegations surrounding the exam.

The Sindh government has been instructed to complete its investigation and submit a report within two weeks. The move follows rumors on social media about a possible leak of the MDCAT question paper, as well as concerns raised by lawmakers about the exam’s integrity.
