Israeli strikes kill four Palestinians in Gaza
At least four Palestinians, including a married couple and a 17‑year‑old teenager, were killed in separate Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip, health officials reported. An Israeli air strike hit an apartment in Gaza City, killing Akram Yassin and his wife Dina Abu Baker, according to medics on Tuesday. In Khan Younis, a 17‑year‑old boy was shot dead by Israeli gunfire near the Qizan an‑Najjar neighbourhood, while another person died from gunfire in the Zeitoun suburb east of Gaza City. The Israeli military also fired artillery in areas south of Khan Younis, the Palestinian news agency Wafa said.
Al Jazeera’s Tareq Abu Azzoum, reporting from Deir el‑Balah, said the overnight and early‑morning attacks were concentrated on Gaza City, where a residential flat was hit without warning. He described “very distressing scenes” and noted that footage from the site showed extensive damage to the whole residential block. He added that Israeli drones and fighter jets were active over central Gaza during the early hours.
Palestinians inspected the wreckage of the Gaza City apartment before gathering for the couple’s funeral. Mahmoud Yassin, whose brother was killed, told Reuters that despite a declared ceasefire period, fighting continued, with ongoing assassinations and shelling.
Since the conflict began in October 2023, Gaza health authorities say at least 74,480 Palestinians have been killed and 175,539 wounded. Following the so‑called ceasefire in October 2025, 1,522 Palestinians have died and 5,421 have been injured in Israeli attacks, with 839 bodies recovered from rubble. The United Nations estimates that about 82 percent of Gaza’s roughly 200,000 structures have been damaged, and two‑thirds of them have been destroyed since the war started.
