Islamabad traffic diversions set for cricket team movements
Islamabad Traffic Police (ITP) issued an advisory on Saturday, October 17, 2026, announcing temporary diversions on several sections of the Islamabad Expressway and Srinagar Highway to accommodate the movement of cricket teams in the capital. An ITP spokesperson said that traffic will be rerouted at various points on Srinagar Highway between Serena Chowk and Ninth Avenue. Drivers using Srinagar Highway are instructed to take Suhrawardy Road, the G‑8 Service Road or the G‑9 Service Road as alternate routes. Vehicles heading toward Zero Point and Faizabad should use Faisal Avenue, while those bound for Ninth Avenue are advised to follow Service Road East.
Commuters traveling from Koral into Islamabad are asked to follow Old Airport Road, Rawal Road, Murree Road, IJP Road and Faqir Aipee Road. If the Koral Expressway, Murree Road or Club Road are closed, motorists can use Lehtrar Road and Park Road as substitutes. For those leaving Islamabad, Jinnah Avenue and Margalla Road are recommended. Travelers arriving from Bhara Kahu toward the city should use Bani Gala Road and Park Road.
The official warned that the diversions are likely to cause congestion on major arteries and urged drivers to add twenty to twenty‑five minutes to their travel time. ITP officers will be stationed at key points to guide motorists and help maintain a smooth flow of traffic.
