Cases to be filed against heavy vehicles entering Lahore during restricted hours, says CTO
Lahore’s Chief Traffic Officer, Abdul Rahim Shirazi, announced that authorities will register legal cases against heavy traffic that enters the city outside the permitted time windows. The move aims to curb accidents and improve safety on the roads, according to ARY News.
Shirazi ordered rigorous inspections of public service vehicles, commercial fleets and other heavy traffic during the prohibited periods. He clarified that heavy traffic is barred from entering Lahore during daytime, and it cannot come into the city before 11:00 p.m. He added that entry is also forbidden after 7:00 a.m.
The CTO extended the ban to tractor‑trolleys, trailers, trucks and construction machinery during daylight hours, warning that operators caught violating the rule will face direct legal action. Shirazi explained that heavy traffic is being allowed into Lahore gradually, with oil tankers permitted only during specific, fixed time slots.
