Brentford alerts police after rugby ball launched onto pitch
Brentford confirmed it is cooperating with police after a “dangerous” incident in which a rugby ball was kicked from a rooftop onto the playing surface during its Premier League match against Liverpool. Social‑media footage shows a man standing on a roof near the Gtech Community Stadium kicking the ball toward the field while onlookers laugh and cheer. A second video taken inside the stadium captures a staff member removing the ball from the pitch as the game continued. In a club statement, Brentford said the act was “dangerous and potentially very harmful” and that the matter had been referred to police. The club added it is assisting authorities in identifying those responsible and that any resulting action could include criminal prosecution. “The matchday safety of fans, staff, players and officials is of utmost importance, and the club will support all efforts to ensure action is taken,” the statement read. Brentford lost the match 2‑1 on Saturday and remain sixth in the league table, a game in which both Yehor Yarmolyuk and Vitaly Janelt were sent off in the second half.
