PESCO releases six-month power outage timetable

The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (PESCO) has issued a timetable covering the next six months for planned power shutdowns aimed at maintaining and upgrading the electricity network. The notice, released by the utility, states that the schedule will be in force from 16 October 2026 through 31 March 2027, and it asks that outages be avoided on Fridays and Sundays whenever possible.

PESCO instructed its relevant departments to combine maintenance tasks wherever feasible, with the goal of limiting inconvenience to consumers and shortening the length of each outage. The company also emphasized that the approved timetable must be followed strictly; routine alterations or additions to the planned shutdowns will not be allowed. If an emergency situation arises that requires an extra outage, the responsible department must submit a formal written request.

The notification requires officials to give advance notice of planned cuts to key and industrial customers, hospitals, schools and local community leaders so that essential services are not unduly affected. In addition, PESCO urged staff to refrain from scheduling maintenance shutdowns on Fridays and Sundays except when absolutely necessary, and to enforce all safety procedures during the work to protect both employees and the public.

According to PESCO representatives, the planned activities are intended to modernize the distribution system and provide a more dependable power supply for consumers in the upcoming season.
