Morgan Gibbs-White fined £1,000 after red‑light offence

England and Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White, 26, has been ordered to pay a £1,000 court bill after his Range Rover was recorded running a red light in West Bridgford, Nottinghamshire. The vehicle was caught on camera passing the lights 1.1 seconds after they turned red on 28 January at 15:17 GMT.

Police sent Gibbs-White two letters asking him to confirm whether he was driving at the time, but he did not respond. A court document shows that he was later convicted of failing to provide the driver’s identity. At Southern Derbyshire Magistrates’ Court, he received a £660 fine, six penalty points on his licence, £120 in costs and a £264 victim surcharge. He did not enter a plea or offer mitigation, and the case was heard behind closed doors under the fast‑track Single Justice Procedure.

Nottinghamshire Police initially flagged the car when investigating the incident, noting that the number plate registered with the DVLA differed by one letter from the one on the vehicle. Staffordshire Police later stopped the Range Rover in April and confirmed it belonged to Gibbs-White.

A police officer recorded in a statement: “At the time of the offence, the vehicle was captured failing to comply with a red light signal, the time into the red light was recorded as 1.1 seconds.”

Gibbs-White, who joined Nottingham Forest from Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2022, earned his first England cap in 2024 and has made ten appearances for the national team. He was also named in Thomas Tuchel’s recent England squad for the Nations League.

The midfielder previously faced a six‑month driving ban in May 2025 after being caught speeding six times within three months, a series of offences that resulted in fines totalling just under £4,000.
