Museum demonstrators in Colombia say authorities are wiping out history
Police in Bogota deployed tear gas and a water cannon to break up a crowd gathered outside the National Museum after the Culture Ministry ordered the removal of thirty exhibition items that highlighted LGBTQ rights, feminist movements and the memory of assassinated political figures. The protesters contend that the decision represents an attempt by the government to erase significant chapters of the nation’s past. The incident was reported on 19 October 2026.
