PTI leaders question Sohail Afridi’s long-march plan, sources say

Differences have surfaced within Pakistan Tehreek‑e‑Insaf over how the party should conduct its long march and its broader political direction after Governor’s Rule was imposed in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, according to sources speaking to ARY News. At a meeting on Saturday, several members of the PTI core committee voiced criticism of the long‑march strategy and raised concerns about the planning undertaken by Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi.

The same core committee members also expressed doubts about the party’s overall political approach following the imposition of Governor’s Rule in the province. One senior committee figure suggested that Barrister Saif should be convinced to return to an active role within the party.

In parallel, the PTI parliamentary party from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa signaled its unease with the political committee formed by Salman Akram Raja. In a statement, the parliamentary party argued that decisions must be taken after broad consultation, reflecting on‑the‑ground realities and the opinions of PTI members from the province. It also called for the revival of the core committee originally set up by party founder Imran Khan.

The parliamentary party further proposed that Barrister Gohar be given primary responsibility for matters concerning Adiala Jail, and it urged that a proposal to appoint Barrister Saif as the party’s representative on Adiala Jail issues be seriously considered.
