Pakistan seeks foreign experts for deep‑sea search of K2 Airways crash

Islamabad – Pakistan’s government has reached out to international specialists to assist in recovering the black box and locating the wreckage of a K2 Airways cargo aircraft that went down near Ormara on July 7, killing all five crew members, according to ARY News. A deep‑sea operation will be launched to retrieve the flight recorder and pinpoint the aircraft’s remains. The cargo‑plane owners have been briefed on the plan and will cover half of the recovery costs.

The aircraft’s black‑box signals ceased about a month after the crash. The Pakistan Navy deployed specialized equipment to detect the recorder at depth, but the government says additional foreign expertise is needed for the full recovery effort. The Bureau of Aircraft Safety Investigation continues its probe, having conducted an aerial survey of the sea area around Ormara and examined how the plane descended from a considerable altitude while returning from Sharjah to Karachi.

Investigators have reviewed the aircraft’s available records and inspected recovered wreckage, including items found in the bag of crew member engineer Hamid. Sources indicate that authorities are also considering hiring international specialist firms to locate the aircraft’s engines, the flight recorder and the missing crew in the deep water.

The crash destroyed the aircraft, and the inquiry into its cause remains ongoing.
