Pakistan Army Major Wajahat Waheed Killed in Pasni IED Blast, ISPR Says

RAWALPINDI – The Inter‑Services Public Relations (ISPR) announced on Monday that Major Wajahat Waheed, a 34‑year‑old officer from Lahore, lost his life when an improvised explosive device (IED) exploded during a security operation in Pasni tehsil, Balochistan. The incident occurred as part of a broader campaign to clear terrorist hideouts and protect local residents.

Intelligence agencies had earlier identified several sanctuaries linked to the Indian‑backed group Fitna Al Hindustan in the Shadi Kaur area of Pasni and in Jattakabad, Kalat district. To neutralise the threat, security forces have been conducting a series of clearance operations across both locations.

On October 18, 2026, troops carried out an intelligence‑driven raid in Jattakabad, Kalat district. During the assault, they engaged a terrorist hideout, killed four militants after a heavy exchange of fire and recovered a substantial cache of weapons and ammunition.

In a separate clearance sweep in Shadi Kaur, Pasni tehsil, the unit led by Major Waheed was struck by an IED. The blast claimed the major’s life, and the ISPR described his death as a martyrdom in the line of duty. The military’s media wing said sanitisation operations will continue until all remaining terrorists are eliminated from the area.

The ongoing counter‑terrorism effort falls under the Azm‑e‑Istehkam strategy, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan, and will proceed at full speed. Security forces and law‑enforcement agencies remain committed to eradicating foreign‑sponsored terrorism from Pakistan.

Earlier on October 18, 2026, security forces reported the killing of eight militants during intelligence‑based operations in the Quetta, Nushki and Khuzdar districts of Balochistan, according to ARY News citing the ISPR. Those operations also targeted members of the Indian proxy Fitna Al Hindustan.
