Olympic champion McClenaghan misses World Championships pommel horse final
Rhys McClenaghan, the Olympic gold‑medalist, failed to advance to the pommel horse final at the World Gymnastics Championships in Rotterdam. His qualifying routine earned 14.400 points, placing him tenth overall and outside the eight‑man final. The 27‑year‑old’s performance marked a challenging comeback after missing all of 2025 while recovering from shoulder surgery. McClenaghan, a two‑time world champion and three‑time European gold medalist, had previously finished sixth at the Commonwealth Games in July, his first major outing since the injury, and then took seventh place at the European Championships in Zagreb in August.
