Citizen recovers Rs 2 million after NCCIA intervention
The Multan Circle of Pakistan’s National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) has retrieved Rs 2 million for a citizen whose bank account was emptied after his mobile phone was compromised. Adeel Haris Siddiqui reported that he discovered the unauthorized withdrawal and turned to the NCCIA in Multan for help. Agency officials say they responded swiftly to his complaint and succeeded in recovering the full amount.
NCCIA officials highlighted that the recovery underscores the agency’s ongoing mission to shield the public from financial fraud and to assist victims in reclaiming money lost to cybercrime.
In a related development, the police and the Cyber Crime Intelligence Agency have linked the police helpline 15 directly with the NCCIA, ARY News reported. According to the Director General of the NCCIA, the helpline 15 systems of police forces in all provinces and major cities have now been integrated with the NCCIA’s platform. Any cyber‑crime complaint received through helpline 15 is automatically forwarded to the appropriate NCCIA zone, which can then initiate legal action without delay.
The integration allows citizens to lodge complaints through the familiar emergency 15 number, streamlining the process and improving coordination between law‑enforcement and the cyber‑crime unit. Authorities expect the change to accelerate responses to cyber harassment, online fraud and data theft, making it simpler for the public to seek help.
