Father of Mir Raza Ali welcomes JIT recommendation, vows protest will continue

Karachi – Mir Hussain, the father of Mir Raza Ali, expressed approval of the judicial commission’s suggestion to set up a joint investigation team, saying his family has been asking for a JIT since the case began, ARY News reported. He thanked Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah, deputy chief minister Faryal Talpur, and the judge who chaired the commission for the report.

Hussain noted that the commission’s findings recommended forming a JIT and even entertained the possibility of murder in the case. He added that his family has already submitted a list of names for the proposed team. According to the father, the commission’s report exposed police negligence and he called for an inquiry into the officers identified. He said the chief minister and a four‑member cabinet committee would act on the recommendations.

“We are not talking about what has been happening in Karachi for the past 70 to 75 years,” Hussain said. He affirmed that the family’s protest would go on and that they would decide their next steps once the JIT is officially announced.

Earlier, Sindh Home Minister Zia‑ul‑Hassan Lanjar told ARY News that a special committee created by the chief minister has started reviewing the commission’s recommendations. He said the sub‑committee met for the first time today, presented the commission’s report and distributed copies to all members.

Lanjar announced that police officers will be investigated in line with the commission’s suggestions, and those found guilty of negligence or administrative failure will be suspended. He added that a joint investigation team will be formed as recommended, provided there are no legal obstacles, and that the committee will reconvene to decide on the report’s recommendations.
