PIA launches interviews for Karachi air‑hostess recruitment

Pakistan International Airlines has started interviewing candidates for cabin‑crew positions at its Karachi hub, according to ARY News. The selection process is being held at a hotel in the city and is overseen by the airline’s Chief Human Resources Officer, Athar Hussain. Interviews for candidates in Lahore and Islamabad have already been completed.

The carrier announced the Karachi recruitment drive at the beginning of October, inviting women aged 20 to 28 to apply for the role of air hostess. Applicants were required to submit their resumes and supporting documents through the PIA online portal, with the final date for submissions set for 7 October. A bachelor’s degree is the minimum educational requirement for the post.

In addition to the hiring effort, PIA has recently tightened its policies on tobacco use by cabin crew. A circular issued earlier this year limits air hostesses to a single packet of cigarettes per flight duty, with a maximum of twenty cigarettes allowed on any one flight. Violations may lead to suspension or removal from duty. In June, the airline introduced a broader directive that bans crew members from carrying cigarettes, cigars or other tobacco products in their personal luggage and prohibits smoking during flights, hotel stays and public places while on duty. Management has warned that any breach of these rules will result in immediate disciplinary action.
