Rawalpindi Police Seek Youth Seen Performing One‑Wheel Stunt with Girl
Rawalpindi police have opened a search for an unidentified young man after a video of him doing a risky one‑wheel stunt on a motorcycle with a girl went viral on social media, ARY News reported. The case was filed following a complaint from the Incharge Traffic Cantt after a notice was issued by Chief Traffic Officer Farhan Aslam of Rawalpindi. Once the First Information Report was registered, investigators began reviewing footage from the city’s Safe City surveillance network to pinpoint the suspect, but no arrests have been made to date.
In a separate development, Punjab police said they continue to crack down on violations of the Anti‑Kite Flying Act. This year, authorities have arrested 11,397 people and registered 10,849 cases for breaching the law, resulting in the seizure of 599,340 kites. In Lahore alone, 5,740 individuals have been taken into custody and 5,466 cases logged; more than 217,000 kites and 7,875 string‑spinning wheels (charkhi) have been recovered.
The Inspector General of Punjab Police has emphasized that illegal kite flying will not be tolerated anywhere in the province and has ordered the arrest of those involved in the illicit metal‑string trade and online kite business. Meanwhile, Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has approved a ten‑day Basant festival to be celebrated across the province from January 29 to February 7, 2027, marking the arrival of the new year. The celebration follows the festival’s return last year after a 25‑year break.
Lahore authorities have urged residents to complete safety measures ahead of Basant 2027, stressing that the steps are intended to protect lives and ensure a secure event. The district administration has also imposed a full ban on the transport of kite‑flying materials through courier services and other transport providers in the city.
