Court orders judicial remand for Iqrarul Hassan
Karachi – On Monday, a local magistrate’s court placed Iqrarul Hassan in jail on judicial remand after rejecting the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency’s request for a further physical remand. The case concerns the accused’s social‑media posts that were deemed critical of the state.
The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) presented Hassan before the Judicial Magistrate‑East, seeking to keep him in police custody. The magistrate instead ordered that he be detained under judicial remand and instructed the NCCIA to submit the formal charge sheet, or challan, within the next 14 days.
Hassan’s defence counsel has already filed a bail application with the court.
