Ten dead after blaze engulfs Bangladesh beach resort

Ten people lost their lives in a fire that ripped through a beach resort in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, authorities said. Among the victims were six members of a single family. The resort had been operating without a fire‑safety licence, despite an official warning issued in June. Local officials confirmed the tragedy on 17 October 2026. The incident quickly spread across social media, prompting calls for stricter safety enforcement at tourist facilities.
