Egypt’s President Sisi pledges to protect Saudi Arabia against Houthi attacks

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el‑Sisi has declared that Egypt is prepared to take “any measure” needed to defend Saudi Arabia as the kingdom faces attacks from Yemen’s Houthi rebels. The president’s statement comes ahead of an emergency session of Egypt’s parliament scheduled for Sunday, during which lawmakers are expected to consider authorising military assistance should Riyadh formally request it. While emphasizing Egypt’s willingness to act, el‑Sisi also stressed that the country does not seek to become involved in a broader conflict. The move reflects growing regional concern over the escalating Houthi campaign against Saudi targets.
